Green orchards, bosky groves and vineyards alternate with great yellow fields, beet, sunflowers and grain. The cultivated landcape and easily passable track offer an attractive cycling circuit on which the connection between Hovorany and the Jarohněvický lake can be tailored “to measure” to suit your own needs. The elongated track has the shape of a very rugged horizontal number eight, and thanks to this junction you are enabled to choose one of the two lesser circuits. The greater portion of the trail leads along strengthened field roads, with the exceptions to this undemanding unfolding of the route being the ascent up the Budovníky track and a few short sections above Šardice. You will be able to appreciate the beauty of the Mutěnice wine trail all the more in the autumn. Nature in full colour marries with the colours of the folk costumes at the village celebrations, wine-harvests and folk festivals, when the wine-cellar lanes will come alive by the work of local vintners and the scent of the new still-fermenting beverage known as “burčák”.
The area around Mutěnice as a component of the Slovácko wine sub-region constitutes the transition between the northern and southern sub-regions of wine cultivation in Moravia. The warm and dry lands of the valley of the River Kyjovka call for varieties such as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Müller-Thurgau, while in more recent years plantings of Chardonnay have increased. There are smaller areas in which red grapes such as Blauer Portugieser, Blaufränkisch and Saint Laurent predominate. On higher positioned vineyards with south-facing slopes of hilly terrain where the influence of a warming winds is not so noticeable, the wines have a full and vivid character, with smooth acidity and a pronounced varietal aroma.
