Family winery Kosut

The roots of the Košut family farm go far back into the past. The oldest preserved monument that testifies to the history of our family's farming is a beam on a farm building in Moravská Nová Ves. It commemorates one of our ancestors who was awarded the "Farmer of the Year 1862". Our ancestors have been farming since they were alive. The focus was broad, from growing traditional field crops, raising horses and cattle to growing vines and making wine. The development of the farm went through good and bad times and we continued the tradition of private farming in 1992, when we started to give our farming the shape it has today. We are now marginally involved in arable and livestock production with horse breeding.
In 1995 we also expanded our wine production, when we enlarged our small winery and started to bring the winery to its present form. We began producing and selling bottled wines in 2002 and since then, we have begun to write the new history of our winery today.
However, the main activity of our company is the production of quality wines from our own vineyards with an emphasis on the most distinctive character and variety of Moravian wines. Our vineyards are located in the wine-growing villages of Moravská Nová Ves and Prušánky in the Slovácké wine sub-region. The total area of our vineyards is 15 ha and together with 12 ha of our uncle Ing. Miroslav Košut, we cultivate nearly thirty hectares of vines.
All production is processed using modern technologies. Of course, there are pneumatic presses, vinifiers for fermentation of red wines, or aggregates for fully automated control of fermentation processes, with cooling temperature control for fermentation of white wines and heating for biological degradation of acids of red wines or flotation skimmers and plate or silica filters.
After the wines have been trained, the batches of bottles are placed in archive cellars or further aged in lager cellars or barrique barrels.
