The Mělník Wine Centre belonging to the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague is one of the wine-growing entities of the Mělník wine sub-region, located 2 km north of the centre of Mělník. The centre produces grapes and fruit on an area of about 20 ha of land. The centre where wine production is concentrated is a historical building called the Carthusian Press. Wine production is classical, the grapes are processed as quickly as possible. The wines are aged in our renowned lager cellar. Natural, varietal quality and quality wines with minimal chemical treatment are produced here.
The variety was bred by the director of the wine school in Klosterneuburg in Austria, Dr. F. Zweigelt in 1922 and its expansion to other countries was credited after the Second World War to Dr. Lenz Moser.
